Things to Do Near Our Vacation Rentals

October 26, 2026

One of the things we love about our vacation rentals is the location. You can enjoy the peace and quiet of the west coast, but you are still close to some of the best beaches, trails, wildlife, and things to do around Ucluelet.

You don't have to drive far to find something beautiful. In fact, one of our favorite walks starts right here on the property.

Whether you want to spend the day at the beach, walk through the rainforest, watch wildlife, or explore the local trails, there is plenty to enjoy around the property. Some trails can be accessed right from the property, while other beaches and attractions are within a 10-minute drive.

Walk to Willowbrae, Halfmoon Bay, and Florencia Bay

One of the best things about staying with us is having easy access to the Willowbrae area.

A driveway runs through the property toward Willowbrae, where you can access the trail that leads toward Halfmoon Bay and Florencia Bay. The trail passes through coastal forest before reaching the beaches.

Halfmoon Bay is a quieter, more secluded beach. At low tide, you can explore the rocks and tide pools and look for small sea life.

Florencia Bay is another favorite. It is a long, beautiful beach backed by forest, and it usually feels much quieter than some of the more popular beaches in the area. The Willowbrae Trail provides access to the southern end of Florencia Bay.

This is the kind of place where we recommend slowing down. Bring a water bottle, wear comfortable shoes, and give yourself plenty of time to enjoy the walk.

Look for Wildlife Near the Property

You don't always have to go on a tour to see wildlife around here.

The area around our rentals is surrounded by forest, water, and natural habitat, so keep your eyes open while walking around the property or nearby trails.

September and October can be especially exciting. There is a spectacular wildlife show just a few minutes' walk away during this time of year, and we are happy to give our guests the details when they arrive.

You may also see birds, seals, and other wildlife around the water and along the coast.

Explore the Wild Pacific Trail

The Wild Pacific Trail is one of the places we always recommend to guests visiting Ucluelet.

The trail follows the rocky coastline and gives you beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean, Barkley Sound, and the surrounding coastline. There are several sections, so you don't have to walk the entire trail to enjoy it.

The Lighthouse Loop is a good choice if you want a shorter walk. It is about 2.5 km and takes roughly 45 minutes to an hour. You will see the Amphitrite Point Lighthouse and several ocean viewpoints.

The Ancient Cedars Loop along the Wild Pacific Trail is an easy rainforest walk. This short 1-kilometre loop takes you through old-growth forest, where you can see huge western red cedars, Sitka spruce, and western hemlock. Some of the cedars are estimated to be more than 800 years old.

The trail also has interpretive signs that share the cultural and natural history of the forest, making it more than just a walk among the trees. It is a great option to fit in before or after a day of fishing or when you simply want a quiet walk through the rainforest.

If you have more time, explore the sections toward Brown's Beach and the Artists Loop.

This is also a great place for a sunset walk.

Visit Big Beach

Big Beach is an easy place to add to your Ucluelet day.

It is close to town, about 8-minute drive from the property, and is part of the Wild Pacific Trail area. You can walk along the beach, enjoy the ocean views, or explore the rocky shoreline.

At low tide, you can also look around the intertidal area for small marine life.

As with all beaches on the West Coast, be careful around the ocean. Waves can change quickly, so stay away from slippery rocks and areas where waves can reach you.

Shorepine Bog Trail

The Shorepine Bog Trail, which is 9-minute drive from the property, is a short 800-metre loop through a unique coastal rainforest. Instead of the tall trees you may expect in a rainforest, you will see smaller trees growing in the wet, acidic soil of a coastal bog.

The trail is mostly a boardwalk with benches along the way, making it a nice short walk when you want to see something different. Keep an eye out for interesting plants, including sundews that grow in the bog.

It is an easy trail to add before or after a fishing trip, especially if you have a little extra time to explore the area.

After a day of walking the trails and exploring the beaches, come back to the property and unwind in the sauna. It is the perfect way to warm up, relax your tired legs, and enjoy a quiet evening surrounded by the peaceful west coast forest.
